CHRISTIAN WEINIG, Councilman from the Fifth Ward, is a native of Germany. He was born at Grumbach, Germany, January 14th; 1847, and came to this country in 1866, locating first at Canal Dover, Tuscarawas county, Ohio, where he resided for two years, when he removed to this city in 1868. Mr. Weinig's trade is that of a shoemaker, which avocation he has followed all his life. He is at present with J. H. Kuebler where he has been employed for the past 16 years. In the spring of 1896 he was elected a member of the City Council from the Fifth Ward as a Democrat, and is now serving his first term. He is Chairman of the Gas and Electric Light Committee, as well as serving on other important committees. Mr.Weinig is a member of the Druids, K. of P. and Bruderbund. He resides at 58 Main street.
