RASSELAS R. TITUS, of Pleasant Township, Seneca County, Ohio, was born at Litchfield County, Connecticut, on the 22d of July, 1819. He removed to Ohio in the fall of 1833, having previously resided in the State of New York. He settled in Pleasant Township, and has since been a permanent resident. On the 21st of April, 1844, he married Elvira S. Clark; Esquire L. Abbott, an old settler, and one of the first justices of the peace in the County, performing the ceremony. This marriage has been blessed with four children, daughters, all living. Augusta P. married Francis J. Fry, and Colena M., to Lorenzo A. Abbott, all residing in Pleasant Township. At the time of his first arrival, Mr. Titus came accompanied by his parents. His father died in 1835, the second year after their settlement. His mother lived to a vigorous old age, dying in 1872, at which time she was eighty-three years old. Mr. Titus possesses eight hundred acres of land, upon which is located the homestead, a fine and pleasant residence. Comfortably circumstanced, Mr. T. spares no pains in making his home one of pleasure and easy convenience. The farm is well managed, a large portion of it being cleared and under capital cultivation. It contains a large amount of excellent timber, including all of the best varieties. Mr. Titus is a man esteemed by his neighbors and friends as an industrious and honest citizen.
