JOHN SCHABACHER, Councilman from the First Ward and President of the City Council, was born in Tiffin July 27th, 1858, and, with the exception of one year, during which time he was engaged in the grocery business at Ann Arbor, Mich., has always resided in this city. Mr. Schabacher's business is that of Contractor and brick mason, which avocation he has followed successfully for the past twelve years. In the spring of 1896 he was elected a member of the City Council, as a Democrat from the First-Ward and again re-elected in the spring of 1897. During his first term he was made Chairman of the Finance Committee, and when the Council was reorganized last April he was honored with the responsible position of President of that body. Besides being President of the Council he is a member of the Finance and other important committees at the present time. He resides at No. 74 Liberty street.
