ANTHONY SCHALK, farmer, P. O. New Riegel, was born near Fostoria, Seneca Co., Ohio, February 12, 1852, son of Martin and Amelia Schalk, natives of Biron, France, who immigrated to America, and were married and first settled near Fostoria, there remaining until 1858; thence they moved on the farm where our subject now resides, where they lived until the death of Martin Schalk, February 2, 1875; his widow is a resident of Tiffin, Ohio. Our subject was united in marriage, May 11, 1875, with Anna K. Kline, born in Rome, Richland Co., Ohio, October 26, 1855, daughter of George and Anna Kline, now living in New Riegel, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Schalk are the parents of four children,, two living: Mary P., born May 15, 1880; Lewis A., born February 7, 1885, and two deceased: Isabella and Florian J. Mr. Schalk owns ninety-five acres of improved land, where he and his family reside; also has an interest in the Schalk store in New Riegel, Ohio. He and his wife are consistent members of the Catholic Church.
