
WILLIAM NEGELE, Councilman from the Second Ward, was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, Feb. 6, 1835. He came to Tiffin in the spring of 1854. Mr. Negele's trade is that of a marble cutter, which avocation he followed until compelled to abandon it by reason of a wound obtained during the late war, in which he enlisted in Sept. 1861, and being thus disabled was discharged in 1864. Not being able to continue his trade he turned his attention to the grocery business and so continued in this city for 34 years. His first experience in this line was when he clerked for Michael Kirchner, in whose employ he remained for five years. In 1868 he formed a partnership with Chas. Martin in the grocery business and so continued for 26 years. Mr. Negele has been at his present location now 3 1/2 years.
In the spring of 1896 he was elected a member of the Council from the Second Ward as a Republican, and is now serving his first term. He is Chairman of the Police Committee and a member of the Gas and Electric Light Committee, He resides at No. 148 North Washington street
