PETER LONSWAY, of Hopewell Township, Seneca County, Ohio, was born at Three Rivers, Lower Canada, May 18, 1815. He removed to Buffalo in the year 1885, and in the following year to Michigan, and from there to Sandusky City, Erie County, Ohio, in 1840. While at the latter place he took a contract to lay the rails for the old Mad River and Lake Erie Railroad, from Sandusky to Berwick. On the fulfillment of his contract, he took up his permanent residence in Seneca County. On the 14th of July, 1844, he married Amelia, daughter of Mr. T. Hendel, for nearly half a century engaged as a cabinet-maker in Tiffin. They had a family of ten children, eight sons and two daughters; one of the sons, Emanual, married Magdalen Houck, and himself and wife are now residing in Loudon Township, within a few miles of the family homestead. The farm consists of one hundred and sixty acres of well-improved and fertile land, which is under good cultivation. The farm in Loudon Township, which is occupied by E. Lonsway, consists of eighty acres, also well cultivated. The residence, in Hopewell Township, is a large brick, conveniently situated within two miles of Tiffin. Mr. L. is an industrious and highly-respected citizen.
