
Benj. F. Lutz, Councilman from the Second Ward, was born in Summit county, Ohio, Feb. 15, 1849. He removed with his parents to this county in 1853, locating on a farm near Bettsville in Liberty township. In the summer of 1873 he left the farm and came to this city where he has resided ever since. Mr. Lutz is a contractor and builder, and in later years has been engaged as a general tackleist, confining himself to the removal of heavy objects, buildings, etc. Last August he purchased the entire plant of the Tiffin Cigar Box Manufacturing company, and has since devoted his time and energy in building up the business.
In the spring of 1897 he was elected a member of the City Council, as a Republican from the Second Ward, and is now serving his fourth term in this capacity. He is Chairman of the Sewer Committee, and is serving on other important committees connected with the city's interest. He is also Chairman of the Committee appointed to investigate the books of the City Gas Plant. Mr. Lutz resides at No.48 Hall street.
