D. V. FLUMERFELT, of Pleasant Township, Seneca County, Ohio, was born in Sussex (now Warren) County, New Jersey, October 13, 1807. On the 2d of May, 1826, he started on his journey West, and arrived in Pleasant Township, Seneca County, Ohio, during the summer of the same year. He married Malinda Littler, of Hardy County, Virginia, on the 12th of October, 1837. By this union they had issue, five sons and four daughters; all living except one, who died in infancy. George is married and settled in Sandusky County, Ohio; Matilda married M. T. Lutz, and resides in Kansas; Ann M. married Dennis Deran, and is settled in the Township. The residue reside with their father on the old homestead. Mr. Flumerfelt is one of the oldest settlers in the County, and has done much towards improving the land in the Township in which he has lived for so many years. He is a public-spirited and amiable gentleman, a good citizen, and a prominent agriculturist. He possesses seven hundred acres of land in Pleasant Township, in this County, and two hundred in the adjoining County of Sandusky. He maintains his age with vigor, and is actively engaged in the management of his large farm. Apparently, Mr. F. will remain many years to adorn the list of the few and rapidly diminishing number of pioneers who did so much towards developing the country and tilling the fertile soil.
