UPTON F. CRAMER, probate Judge of Seneca County, was born in Clinton Township, January 19, 1842. His parents, Dennis F. Cramer and Mary E. Cramer, are natives of Frederick County, Maryland, and emigrated to this County in an early day. His father is well known in the community as a farmer of reliable integrity, prudent judgment, and exceedingly liberal in the promotion of all industrial and educational institutions of this County. He has always been an active friend of Heidelberg College, in which he has educated all his sons. We should be much mistaken in the estimation of Father Cramer if a man with the broad views of human life, and his kindly indulgence toward the weaknesses of his fellow-men, should possess bitter enemies among his neighbors.

Upton received his education in the above-named institution, completing a classical course in the class of 1866, and was married to Miss Mary L. Souder in December of the same year. Mr. Cramer occupies a pleasant home on College Hill. Was a member of the firm of "Bachman & Cramer" from the date of his admission to the bar, August 22, 1867, to his election to his present office in 1872. Perhaps no firm of young practitioners ever did a more satisfactory business for their clients and themselves in Tiffin in the same time than theirs.

Mr. Cramer was elected as successor of Judge Johnson (deceased) against the usual large partisan majority of about six hundred votes, and enjoys the undivided confidence of his constituents. His legal information, social tact, grounded on principles of right, make him a safe counselor and efficient judge.
