GEORGE CORTHELL, of Clinton Township, Seneca County, Ohio was born at Camden, Waldo County, Maine, January 8, 1815. He removed to this county in the fall of 1843 and settled on the farm he at present occupies at a time when it was all woods, in 1844. On the 15th of January 1846, he married Susan Engler, a resident of Clinton Township, by whom he had three sons and four daughters, all living, save one, a daughter, who died quite young. The farm contains four hundred acres of finely improved land while, the residence is one of the most comfortable in the County. The barns and out-buildings are substantial and ample for the housing of a large amount of stock, of which he has a good supply. Mr. Corthell is a practical farmer and a hard worker. By industrialist habits and frugality he has made an independence, which himself and family are now enjoying.
