JOHN BIGHAM, of Jackson Township, Seneca County, Ohio, was born in Knox County, this State, on the 6th of
March, 1833. He removed to Eden Township in July, 1884, accompanied by his parents, remaining there until
March, 1866, and then went to Washtenaw County, Michigan, where he became acquainted with Miss Jane Clark,
a native of New York, but for many years a resident of Michigan, to whom he was married on the 4th of September
of the same year, the ceremony having been performed at Jackson. After the wedding they remained in Michigan
about a year, returning to Ohio in 1856, and settled on a farm in Crawford County, where they resided until the year 1864.
They again returned to Seneca County the same year, remaining, however, only a short time, when they purchased
another farm in Crawford County, and after staying there for about six years, they finally located permanently on the
farm they now occupy, in Jackson Township, Seneca County, Ohio, in the fall of 1871. The family now consists of three
children, the eldest of whom, Mary Eliza, was born July 25, 1857; the second, Robert, was born October 2~ 1858 ; and
the third, Martha Jane, born 23d June, 1869. They were all born in Crawford County. The farm at present owned by
the subject of this sketch contains one hundred and eighty acres, 'of which a good proportion is timber the rest is under
excellent cultivation. The residence is one of the neatest and most comfortable in the Township, is pleasantly situated,
and surrounded by a fine orchard and good substantial outbuildings. By industrious habits and economical management
Mr. Bigham has accumulated a competence; and by judicious investments and practical business, qualifications and social excellences he has built up for himself an enviable reputation for honesty and integrity, and is generally held in the highest estimation by those who form the circle of his extensive acquaintance.
